AIRIA uses any Inmarsat Aero H/H+ antenna, already certified and installed on more than 76 percent of modern long-haul, wide-bodied aircraft in use worldwide. The antenna is also installed on a large number of business aircraft. Satellites are already in orbit, and the operation of the antenna is well proven. No perforation of the aircraft skin is necessary and there is no additional drag.
     Internally, AIRIA requires just one Line Replaceable Unit (LRU): the AIRIA MultiMedia Unit. This MMU provides the interface between the Inmarsat antenna and an aircraft's existing IFE system.
